01. Higher Education
Governor Punjab Mohammad Sarwar as the Chancellor is ensuring meritocracy in public and private universities of Punjab
- Governor Mohammad Sarwar made the teaching of the Quran with translation mandatory in all universities of Punjab.
- In June 2020, after consultation with the Vice-Chancellors Governor Mohammad Sarwar in his capacity as the Chancellor issued a notification making it compulsory for all students (except Non-Muslims) to study the Holy Quran with translation.
- He launched the biggest scholarship program in 72-year history for the students of Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and FATA.
- Under this program, 3,200 students hailing from Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and FATA will be given 100 per cent scholarships whereas 16,852 students will be given 50 per cent scholarship
- Students from these areas will not be expelled from varsities due to non-payment of fee
- In the first phase, Punjab Government has allocated Rs 20 million for this scholarship program which will increase to Rs 80 million in four years
- This Scholarship Program will enable 20,052 students from remote areas of Pakistan to acquire higher education in any Public university of Punjab
- Students of Islamia University Bahawalpur called off their protest after Governor Mohammad Sarwar announced full annual scholarships for 1000 students of FATA in various universities till 2027.
- He also announced setting up the sub-campus of Punjab University in FATA and Government College University sub-campus in Gilgit.
02. Punjab Aab-e- Pak Authority
- Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority is to complete all 14 water supply projects of over PKR 4 billion in 36 districts of Punjab by 31 Dec 2021, which will benefit over 7.6 million people with the provision of high-quality water that meets WHO drinking water standards. In addition, the Authority is developing water supply infrastructure in all the brackish areas of Punjab in 7 districts where 177 water supply boreholes (sources) have already been completed. Together with these 177 projects and additional 525 filtration plants next year, the Authority targets to provide improved access of good quality drinking water to about 15 million least privileged people, which will result in improved health and productivity of people and significantly reduce their medical expenses on water-borne diseases.
- Under the patronage of Governor Punjab Mohammad Sarwar, Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority is working expeditiously for the provisions of safe drinking water to about 70 million population in 36 districts of Punjab.
- The first filtration plant has been set up in Chak Jhumra that will provide uninterrupted supply of potable water to 57K people for 20 years.
03. Punjab Development Network
- After the Coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan, Governor Punjab Mohammad Sarwar brought various organizations together under the Punjab Development Network (PDN).
- PDN provided ration to 2 million deserving families across Punjab.
- The healthcare personnel was provided with Personal Protective Equipment and other Coronavirus safety essentials whereas Sanitizers, masks, laundry soaps were also provided to 46,000 prisoners across Punjab.
04. Covid-19
- The Covid-19 Heroes wall was built as a symbol of gratitude and recognition of all those who rendered services in curbing the spread of Coronavirus in Pakistan. Within only 5 weeks after approval, this historic COVID-19 heroes wall was ready due to the relentless efforts and dedication of the team involved in this initiative.
- At the first international conference on COVID19 Vaccine & Beyond held at the University of Health Sciences, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar announced to establish a ‘’Free Vaccine Bank’’ for administering COVID19 vaccine to the poor segments of the population free of cost. At this conference, the Vice-Chancellor UHS, Dr Javaid Akram also announced that COVID19 vaccines will be manufactured in Pakistan.
- A Qur’an Garden has been established at Governor’s House Lahore. The trees and plants mentioned in the Holy Quran have been planted in this garden. This garden is open to the public.
05. Religious Tourism
- As the head of Religious Tourism and Heritage Committee, Governor Punjab Mohammad Sarwar has directed the renovation of Christian holy sites in Maryamabad.
- He also announced the installation of a Water Filtration Plant at Maryamabad Church.
06. Telemedicine
- Governor Punjab Mohammad Sarwar launched Telemedicine Centre at various medical universities and hospitals across Punjab including King Edward Medical University (KEMU) shortly after the Coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan to take the burden off hospitals.
- The doctors remain available round the clock at the centres to provide medical advice free of cost.
- The initiative was emulated by various universities across Punjab and hundreds and thousands of patients have been provided medical help.
- The telemedicine centre is still fully operational and citizens are encouraged to seek medical help from expert doctors without having to leave their homes.
07. GSP plus
- As the Governor of Punjab, Mohammad Sarwar paid four visits to European countries and did successful lobbying for GSP-Plus status for Pakistan. He held meetings with more than 30 members of European Parliament for this purpose.
- Upon his request, European Parliament’s Vice-President Fabio Massimo Castaldo paid his first-ever visit to Pakistan.
- As a result of this extension, Pakistan’s exports increased by 65 per cent and got benefits worth 15 billion dollars.
08. Boy Scouts
- Governor of Punjab, Mohammed Sarwar launched Community Safety Training book for Punjab Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) at Governor House to cope with emergency situations with more efficiently and diligently.
- Boy Scouts are being affiliated with Rescue Service so that they could be trained on Community Safety Training.
- The training program will later be expanded at Punjab level.
- The training of volunteers has started and the core theme of launching this Rescue scout training is to develop the healthy, safe and resilient communities in Pakistan.
09. Ombudsman
- Governor of Punjab, Mohammed Sarwar has played a vital role for raising awareness about the office of the Ombudsman, where complaints regarding maladministration of government departments can be submitted.
- People have various options to get help from the office of ombudsman. They can submit their complaints in writing or online. Perhaps a mobile application has also been launched for this purpose.
- Numerous seminars are being arranges to raise the awareness about the office of ombudsman among the masses.
- To improve the performance of the office of Ombudsman, the office has decided to address all the complaints within 60 days. Due to which 70,000 complaints were registered last year from which 98 percent of its decisions were implemented.
10. Agriculture
- As Head of Punjab Agriculture Committee, Governor Punjab Mohammad Sarwar has launched a campaign to promote cotton cultivation in South Punjab with the support of relevant departments of Federal and Provincial governments.
- For the immediate resolution of farmers’ problems, the committee comprises representatives of farmers in addition to other officials.
- Along with the provision of quality seeds and pesticides, cotton growers were given subsidies.
- The committee is facilitating farmers by incorporating modern technology and the latest methods into the agriculture sector.
11. Ordinance signed by Governor Mohammad Sarwar
An ordinance to make provisions for establishment of a commission for regularization of irregular housing schemes.

12. Release Yasin Malik
- Ex Governor Punjab Ch Mohammed Sarwar highlighted the illegal life imprisonment meted out to Yasin Malik by fascist Modi's govt. To release &provide fair rights to Kashmiri freedom fighter Yasin, "All Parties Task Force on Yasin Malik" was set up which’ll raise voice at all international forums.
